What I Can Help With

At Curlew Counselling, the focus is always on creating a warm, reflective environment — a place where you can arrive exactly as you are.

You don’t need to have the right words or a clear explanation. You simply need to show up, and we’ll explore the rest together.

“When life feels heavy or overwhelming, counselling offers a pause — a moment to gather yourself and begin again"

Anxiety, stress or burnout

When life feels overwhelming, fast, or pressured, anxiety can take hold. Together we can explore what’s driving these feelings, understand how they show up in your body and mind, and begin to build steadier ways of coping. Counselling offers a quiet place to slow down and breathe again.

Low mood or depression

Low mood can make everything feel heavier and harder to reach. In counselling, we gently explore what’s contributing to this heaviness, helping you reconnect with moments of steadiness, hope and self-compassion. You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Grief and loss

Grief can feel like a landscape that shifts beneath your feet. Whether your loss is recent or longstanding, counselling offers a safe, steady space to talk, remember, and make sense of the emotions that come in waves. There is no “right” way to grieve — only your way.

Self-esteem and identity

You may be questioning who you are, struggling with confidence, or feeling disconnected from yourself. Together, we explore these parts gently, helping you understand your story, strengthen your sense of identity, and feel more grounded in who you are becoming.

Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or “not yourself”

Sometimes there isn’t a single clear reason — just a sense that something feels off. Counselling can help you untangle these feelings, understand what’s underneath them, and begin to feel more centred and connected again.

Trauma or difficult past experiences

Trauma can leave echoes that show up in the present. In a calm, contained space, we work gently with these experiences, helping you feel safer, steadier, and more able to understand your responses. You set the pace, and we move carefully.

Relationship or family challenges

Relationships can be supportive, complicated, or painful. Whether you’re navigating conflict, distance, change or uncertainty, counselling offers a space to explore what’s happening and how it’s affecting you. Together, we look at patterns, needs and boundaries with compassion.

“You are allowed to arrive exactly as you are; together we make sense of what feels uncertain, painful or unclear.”
