Data Protection & Complaints Procedure
Curlew Counselling is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of clients, prospective clients, website visitors and other individuals whose information I process. Information on how I do this can be found in my Privacy Policy.
If you have concerns about how your personal data has been collected, stored, used or shared, you have the right to raise a complaint with me.
How to Make a Complaint
If you wish to make a complaint regarding the handling of your personal data, please contact me in written form in the first instance for us to discuss and remedy where possible.
Email: clare@curlewcounselling.co.uk
Please provide as much information as possible about your concern so that it can be investigated appropriately.
What Happens Next
• I will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 30 days.
• I will review the concerns raised and investigate where necessary.
• I will provide a response explaining the outcome of our investigation and any action taken.
Please note: I will limit access to complaint information and keep a proportionate record of the concern, investigation, communications, outcome and learning. Information may need to be shared with my insurer, professional body, supervisor, legal adviser or another authority where this is necessary and lawful.
If I Cannot Resolve Your Concern
If you remain dissatisfied with my response, you have the right to raise your concerns with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s independent authority responsible for upholding information rights.

This procedure relates specifically to concerns about the handling of personal data.
General complaints about therapy services should be raised directly with Curlew Counselling in the first instance. See below.
If you have a complaint regarding my professional conduct or services
If you are dissatisfied with the service I am providing or my professional conduct, I would ask that we try to resolve it together in the first instance and for you to make contact in whatever way you feel comfortable. We can then discuss the issues and the way forward. I value openness and honesty and if I am not meeting your needs, I would like to know and to remedy this.
If you are still not happy with the outcome, you may contact the NCPS directly through its website, Complaints | NCPS. My NCPS membership number is NCPS599. You do not have to complete my internal process before contacting NCPS.
Please note: I will limit access to complaint information and keep a proportionate record of the concern, investigation, communications, outcome and learning. Information may need to be shared with my insurer, professional body, supervisor, legal adviser or another authority where this is necessary and lawful.
